VMware Horizon 6.x – View Composer Installation

VMware Horizon  has various components and View Composer is one of the optional components of VMware Horizon 6.   View Composer needs to be installed on the Windows Server on which vCenter Server is installed or on a separate Windows Server computer. A standalone View Composer installation works with vCenter Server installed on a Windows Server computer and with the Linux-based vCenter Server Appliance. View Composer cannot be installed on the same virtual or physical machine with any other VMware Horizon View software component, including  View Connection Server,replica server, security server, View Agent, or Horizon Client.

VMware Horizon 6 – View Composer Hardware, Operating System and Database Requirements

View Composer requires an SQL database to store data. The View Composer database can be reside on the server as View Composer server host or in a remote database server. You might be having exitsing Database server for your vCenter Server. View Composer supports a subset of the database servers that vCenter Server supports.You can use the same database server to create database for the View Composer or you can separate database server, if you don’t have any existing. It is always recommended to use VMware Product Interoperability Matrixes to understand the Database requirement and other interoperability between various VMware products. It is always recommended to use VMware Product Interoperability Matrixes to understand the database requirement and other interoperability between various VMware products. . The View Composer database stores all the information about linked clone virtual desktops deployed by View Composer. You need to create Create ODBC Connection before proceeding with the View Composer installation.

VMware Horizon 6 – View Composer Server Installation

Let’s take a look at the detailed step by step procedure to install and configure VMware Horizon 6 View Composer server.

Installation Prerequisite:-

View Composer Installation

Download VMware Horizon 6 from VMware Website. Run the View Composer server installer to start the installation.

Click on Next to start the installation of VMware Horizon View Composer Server.

Select the Check box “I accept the terms in the license agreement” to accept the End user license agreement. Click on Next.

Browse the installation location for VMware Horizon View Composer server and click on Next.

Enter the ODBC Connection name and credentials for database connection and Click on Next.

Review SOAP port settings and click on Next.

Click on Install to start the View Composer installation.

Installation will take few seconds to minutes to complete.

Click on Finish to complete the VMware Horizon View Composer installation.
